OUR CHAIRMAN
Indy Pathmanathan
Indy Pathmanathan is a visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist who has blazed trails in multiple industries, including home improvement, technology, education, and more.
As a civil engineering student at the University of Waterloo, he created MagickWoods as a school project during a co-op term. Magickwoods swiftly evolved into a thriving local bath furniture business, propelled by Indy's passion for interior design and engineering. Over the years, he built a unique global sourcing network and expanded his vision internationally. Today, MagickWoods operates across North America, Asia, Europe, and South America, with its products available at renowned retailers like Home Depot, Lowes, and Menards.
Indy holds multiple patents for proprietary 3D and augmented technologies for the home improvement industry and beyond. In 2022, he founded MagickTech, a software company dedicated to providing creative technology solutions to businesses.
His belief in the power of education and technology led him to create his passion project: Northern Uni. Founded in 2022 , Indy wanted to give back to his home country by bringing post-secondary education in tech and business to students in a remote part of Northern Sri Lanka.
Indy's commitment to social causes is a testament to his philanthropic spirit. In his early years as a student, he co-founded CanTYD, a non-profit organization focused on youth development in Canada. His dedication to community safety led him to serve on the Southeast Asian Consultative Committee of the Metropolitan Toronto Police for four years. Later, while working on Northern Uni, he established the Yes-Yarl Education Support Fund (“Yes Fund”), a charity that offers scholarships to low-income students.
Indy has earned many accolades, from prestigious design awards for his innovative furniture creations to the Young Entrepreneur Award from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. His remarkable export performance and job creation efforts through MagickWoods have garnered many awards from the Government of India.
